My Role and Contributions
As the lead designer, I was responsible for the overall design architecture, ensuring the user experience was intuitive and engaging for the younger Nigerian demographic. My contributions included conducting user research, wireframing, creating high-fidelity mockups, and developing prototypes. I also played a key role in the final polished designs, incorporating vibrant colors and interactive elements that resonate with the target audience.
The Product's Goal
The product aims to revolutionize social engagement by introducing innovative features that keep users engaged with trending topics. Specifically, it targets the 18-35 age group in Nigeria, providing a platform for dynamic and interactive discussions around hot topics, addressing the current lack of engaging features for real-time trending conversations in the social media landscape.
The Research
To understand the preferences and behaviors of Nigerian users aged 18-35, I conducted surveys and in-depth interviews. The research focused on users' current habits, content preferences, and desired features. The findings revealed a strong desire for live, interactive events, recognition through rewards, and culturally relevant, vibrant designs.
The Target Audience
Name: Adeola
Age: 25
Location: Lagos
Occupation: Social Media Manager
Interests: Politics, Social Issues, Music
Behavior: Active on social media, enjoys engaging in discussions about social and political issues.
Goals: To stay updated with trends, participate in meaningful discussions, and earn recognition.
Pain Points: Difficulty finding platforms with real-time debates and lack of recognition for participation.
Design Architecture
The design architecture was inspired by Nigerian culture, utilizing rich purples, dark reds, and modern sans-serif fonts. Interactive UI elements were integrated to encourage user engagement, with features like gamified gist battles and virtual events. The architecture was centered around creating a mobile-friendly experience that appeals to the target demographic.
Wireframes (or Sketches)
Wireframes were developed to map out the user flow and ensure the design was user-centric. Key features like real-time polls, interactive quizzes, and debate sections were sketched to provide a clear visual hierarchy and intuitive navigation.
